Outline |
 |
| Series 5678 connector is mainly used to connect the printed circuit boards in parallel in servers, FA computers, OA equipment, medical equipment and etc. for which high reliability and high-speed transmission are required.Since high reliability is required for those industrial equipment and medical equipment, also the same is required for connectors that connect mission-critical components in such equipment accordingly. Series 5678 connector is applicable to the numbers of 0.8mm-spacing terminals between 20 and 120 and to the stacking height between 10.0 and 19.0mm due to the combination of plug and receptacle connectors. This is the very first product for high-speed transmission and having the floating structure based on KYOCERA Connector Products-proprietary product concept, and is the most suitable stacking type connector for the connection with sub boards to expand functions.
It enables 5.0Gbps high-speed serial data communication compliant with 5Gbps PCI Express 2.0, also it is equipped with the floating structure that absorbs misalignment of the connector mounted on a printed circuit board and a loss caused in installing connected printed circuit boards onto a unit by moving ±0.4mm in the direction of X and Y axes respectively. With such a structure, it enables to mount multiple low-pin-count connectors on a printed circuit board and there is no need of crowded wiring to a high-pin-count connector on a board any more. Thus, freedom in laying out printed wirings on a board is attained and connectors are able to be located in each circuit with the shortest path. Consequently a mounting area on a printed circuit board is effectively utilized as well as this product is optimum for preventing deterioration of a signal quality in data transmission.

Features |
 |
| (1) |
The impedance is controlled with molded parts and contacts on Series 5678 connector. 5.0Gbps high-speed serial data communication is attained by the differential pair comprised of Ground (G)-Signal (S)-Signal (S)-Ground (G) (up to 38 pairs are recommended on a 120-pin connector). This high-speed transmission connector is provided for each high-speed serial data compliant to standards such as PCI Express 2.0, USB, IEEE1394, and SATA. It is also possible to wire serial signal inside the connector. |
| (2) |
With the floating structure, mated connectors are movable by ±0.4mm in the direction of X and Y axes respectively. With the GSSG differential pair and the KYOCERA Connector Products proprietary floating system, the characteristic impedance is controlled to 100Ω±15% . The variation of the impedance is restrained within ±3O when connectors invoke the ±0.4mm floating feature. |
| (3) |
Applicable to the numbers of terminals between 20 and 120 and to the stacking height between 10.0 and 19.0mm due to the combination of plug and receptacle connectors. |
